Hello new friends!
My name is Daya but my students call me Mme. Madhur and this profile is shared between myself and my grade 7/8 students (youth ranging from 11-13 years old).
I was born and raised in Regina, Saskatchewan, a city of 200,000 people that is known as the Canadian Breadbasket. Our sunsets are endless and we joke that you can see your dog run for miles. Regina is Canada's training depot for the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) and the rumours of police riding on horseback down the streets is not true.
I am a teacher working in the public school system, teaching arts education as well as social studies. I am also an Ethnomusicologist (the study of people, music, and culture) working on campus and in our community to create socially engaged work, using the fine arts as a tool to address social concerns.
I first learnt about Postcrossing while working on my Masters and found the art of sending mail a welcomed distraction from grad studies. I have since reactivated my account as a means to teach my students about the world, cultures, and learn of peoples stories. If possible we would love to learn about your home, the landscape, food, culture, and any exciting upcoming traditions or festivals.
I love all types of postcards but handmade pieces of art are my favourite. I look forward to hearing your stories and learning more about where you are from.
