About Kharishar...

Hello there! My name is Kuka; born and raised in Jakarta, Indonesia. I've been living in New York for 1.5 years now to pursue my Master's degree on science journalism. I graduated in December and am now doing an internship writing about birds (they are really amazing!) before I have to fly back home in June.

I used to volunteer with AFS in Indonesia. The organization focuses on intercultural learning and experience. Postcrossing, in some way, is my way to continue learning about other cultures from around the world. It'd be a pleasure to meet new friends from different cultures.

When I'm not on deadline, I play video games (prefer offlines because I suck big time when playing multiplayer) and read books; mostly comics nowadays, but also fictions. While I'm a big fan of Batman (the beloved caped crusader!) and Superman (the American boy scout!), I'm more familiar with Japanese Manga. My recent favs: Naoki Urasawa (20th Century Boys!!), Tatsuki Fujimoto (Look Back!), and Haikyuu!! My personal kryptonite is cat. Back home, I have a female stray cat who decided to adopt my family as part of her life.

I also like reading and watching about science. I studied social science in college (communication studies), but I can't deny my long love with natural science. Physics, space, anything about earth. It's my lifelong goal to learn how to communicate science better for general audience to help them see that science is complicated yet fun.

Send and write me anything! I'm really glad to learn more about people from other countries. Tell me about anything: your favorite food, places, moments in your day, inspirational person.

P.S If you're sending me a postcard, please include a greeting in your native language.
