About Chris...

My name is Chris, I am 25 & from the Republic of South Africa, a land of cultural diversity. I reside in the Eastern Cape town of Queenstown.
I’m quite nostalgic, and love the simpler things in life, like a hike up the mountain, a photography expedition to capture the sunset & a good cup-a-coffee.
I’m also fond of all things cultivating - I like my history, enjoy traditions and love my classical music. That is why I think I enjoy Postcrossing & snail mail so much - it takes me back to a place I did not know of.

Queenstown is a prosperous town, situated on the elevated plateau between the Stormberg and Katberg mountains, and is the centre of a fine wheat and wool-producing district. It has an abundant water supply, and large plantations of trees.
After the eighth Xhosa War, part of the land belonging to the abaThembu (a people group that speak isiXhosa) was given to the British in 1852, and was then called North Victoria, in the centre of which, Queenstown (locally also called Komani amongst the amaXhosa people) was build.
Population (2011) : 68,872.

If you are wondering what postcard to send me, send me a postcard that you would like to be sent to you, go check out my favourites for some ideas, or if you really do not know what to send me, here are some ideas:
• landscapes (eg. Grand Canyon, USA; Table Mountains, RSA; Uluru, Aus - landscapes authentic to your country).
• portraits (eg. something classic like Mona Lisa by Da Vinci or something more contemporary like a photograph of a human).
• architecture (eg. Big Ben, UK; Eiffel Tower, France).

And if you don’t know what to write, the Postcrossing blog have a great initiative – the writing prompts invite postcrossers to write about a different topic on their postcard’s messages every month. These are just suggestions though — if you already know what you want to write about that’s great too! Link to writing prompts: https://www.postcrossing.com/blog/tag/writing-prompts *In August, write about an invention from your country.

Just a few things to take note of:
• Please write the postcard ID in the top-left corner of the postcard, and just beneath it the town your writing from and the date please - eg. London - 2018/10/10.
• I do not always have time to scan the postcards, so if you would like to have the postcard scanned and uploaded, you can do it yourself.
• Keep the postcards authentic - no self-made-clip-out-advert-ugly postcards PLEASE!
• Lastly - please DO NOT send the postcard in an envelope. It is very unauthentic.

Happy Postcrossing.
