About Cheryl...

I live on the beautiful west coast of Florida which has warm, sunny weather and spectacular sunsets at the beach. Ever since moving to the beautiful west coast of Florida almost 20 years ago, my husband and I have 'embraced' the Florida lifestyle of swimming, boating, paddle boarding and other outdoor sports. We learned to scuba dive to explore undersea wonders and hunt for fossils - and now have a pretty good collection of fossil teeth from the gigantic sharks (megalodons) who lived in the area millions of years ago. We also love tennis, and live where people play almost every day. We are outdoor enthusiasts and campers, and recently bought a RV so that we can roam the country more easily, camping and hiking in as many National Parks as possible. I worry a lot about the future of our parks and the environment in general.

My education and background is in science and I have worked in research my whole life. I enjoy traveling and immersing in other cultures and have had the good fortune to live abroad, working in Kenya and then Switzerland for several years. I think postcrossing is a great way to keep connected to people from all over the world.

My sweet little dog Brandi has become a big part of my life over the last 5 years. She looks like a little brown teddy bear and is as gentle and loving as can be. She is approved as a service dog and and spreads smiles and happiness many places. She is a great companion and keeps me busy playing ball.

For years, I have enjoyed collecting and sending souvenir postcards. My favorites to send are from Florida, National Parks or wonderful places I have been. Sometimes I buy cards (and stamps) just for postcrossing.

Ideas for postcards to send to me (updated October 2018):

- Outdoor recreation areas
- National Parks or Natural Wildlife habitats
- Mountain Ranges or Mountain Peaks
- World Heritage sites, including ancient history sites
- Archeology, pre-history sites
- Universities, Museums
- Primates (especially gorillas, orangutans and chimpanzees)
- Famous places, cities or landmarks
- Tennis (including venues and players, especially Federer)
- Peace and Love
- Rock & roll (especially Beatles, Stones, Bowie, Clapton)

Please know that I will enjoy anything you send!
