I prefer postcards in an envelope or without envelope, especially if you’re far away.
I’d be happy if you could put something like a coin from your place or a traditional recipe from your country, stickers, stamps, a bag of your favourite tea, some seeds, or anything you want. It would be indeed special. But if you can't, it's not a problem.
It'd be interesting if you write some simple words in your native language.
