By day, and to pay the mortgage, I work as an investigator for employees who report complaints to our company's Ethics Helpline. I have worked in and taught human resources for over 3 decades.
In my free time, I do mixed media art including collage and abstract painting. I like to recycle, reuse or re-love small treasures into my artwork. What many see as trash is my treasure. I love color and texture and get great joy out of sharing my art with others. Please let me know if you would like a postcard with a photo of one of my pieces of artwork!
I read murder mysteries and other fiction stories. I like books on CD to listen to as I drive around my hometown of San Diego, California. I have also lived in Shreveport Louisiana and grew up in Omaha Nebraska. My favorite authors include Janet Evanovich, JD Robb, Lisa Scottoline, James Grippando, James Lee Burke, Harlan Coben, Lee Child, Stuart Woods, Barbara Kingsolver, Stieg Larsson, Mary Tyrone Smith, Sue Monk Kidd, John Grisham, and new authors! I am fairly active on GoodReads.
I enjoy cooking but as an empty-nester, my 29-year-old son also lives in San Diego, I don't cook much any more. I like all kinds of movies and music. I like white wine particularly Sauvignon Blanc, and enjoy wine tastings! I would like to travel more outside of the United States. So far I have only been to Mexico. I would love to visit Japan, Germany, actually all parts of Europe. I am on social media like Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Twitter.
I love modern art and abstract expressionism. I also love to see art locally and in art museums. Most recently, I visited the St Louis Art Museum and the Art Institute of Chicago. I enjoy both bright colors and texture in paintings and other pieces of Art. I love learning more about art history and really enjoyed an online MOOC class I took through coursera.org from the New York Museum of Modern Art (MOMA). We learned about the New York school of abstract expressionists post World War II and got to experiment ourselves with their unique painting techniques.
Another class I enjoyed online from www.coursera.org was Learning How to Learn. it would be a great class for any student of any age to help them learn and study better. Courses are free and self-paced.
My paternal grandparents were born in Germany, however we know very little about that lineage.Oma was born Ernestine Rech in Bingen am Rhein, near Albesheim, Rheinpfalz, Germany and Opa was Charles (or Karl) Paul Bange born in Streitfeld Near Romstock Mecklenberg, Germany.
I look forward to getting a postcard from you. Happy Postcrossing!
