About Kerstin...

Hi everyone,

my name is Kerstin, I am 38 and I live in the beautiful city of Düsseldorf together with my boyfriend and our almost 1 year old son Julian as well as our hamster called TimTam.

This is what comes to my mind to describe my favourite "things":
I looooove giraffes (as you can guess from my picture ;-)), other favourite animals include panda bears, koalas, squirrels, elephants...

I also love travelling, learning about other countries and cultures (guess just like everyone else here on postcrossing). I spent one year in Sydney - best year of my life - after finishing school (that was 19 years ago.. wooosh, time flies), I also spent four months in beautiful Edinburgh (also one of my favourite cities in the world) and I love Scandinavia (I do speak a little bit Swedish since I am taking Swedish classes) but the world is huge, so I hope to learn more about other countries and to add a few more to my travel itinerary.

Hobbies: playing the Taiko (Japanese drum), going to the movies, visiting zoos, reading books, music, nature, photos etc.

I also have a thing for unusual/crazy hotels. So far I have spent the night in a wine barrel, a sewer pipe, a prison (really, just a hotel!! ;-)), a treehouse, a postoffice, an ice hotel, a plane, a doubledecker bus, a giraffe hotel etc. If you know any other unusual hotel in the world, please tell me about it!

I also love rooftop bars /sky bars with nice views - can you recommend any in your city or somewhere else?

We collect cards of FIRE ENGINES for our son (historical ones, or typical for your country or cartoon ones).

Other motifs - beside GIRAFFES - that make me smile:

- Taiko (drums, Yamato, Kodo, Tao etc - apparently not easy to get)
- "Keep Calm" postcards
- Aboriginal Art
- Australia (landscape, cities, food, drinks, animals, Flying Doctors, Kylie Minogue, signs, flags, maps etc.)
- Scotland
- maps
- retro cards
- books
- letter boxes
- Agatha Christie
- Alfred Hitchcock
- Sarah Kay
- Buddha
- Geisha
- Moomins
- The little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
- Matryoshka

Best wishes and happy postcrossing
