Hello!

I'm a lifelong resident of southwestern Ohio in the United States. My sixth great-grandfather settled here after he served with General George Washington at Valley Forge during the American Revolution, so I have very deep roots in this area long before Ohio became known as the Buckeye State. That particular branch of my family tree has roots that extend back to the Merlot region of France in the 1600s. Other branches of my family go back several generations (early 1700s) into England and Ireland. So all in all, I have a soft spot in my heart for this part of the world too.

In terms of hobbies, I enjoy cooking, history, reading and writing, spending time with our dogs, and birdwatching in my backyard. I have an extensive array of birdfeeders in my backyard and enjoy seeing how many different types of birds visit. I also enjoy dabbling in art, although I am not very good at it; mostly drawing and colored pencils.

This helps explain why I like receiving original art postcards, although I am not picky about what I receive. I try to send postcards based on what people say they are interested in, but I also like to send cards about Ohio when I can. I enjoy the challenge of trying to match up what people are interested in and try to match it up with a card that showcases Ohio at the same time.

I continue to be amazed how I can receive postcards from halfway around the world in a matter of a few days, but yet cannot receive postcards from across the US in a matter of weeks!

I’m coming back to Postcrossing after a long hiatus because a lot of my postcards sent overseas never reached their destination. I hope to have a better experience this time.

P.S. Sometimes people wonder about my photo choice for my avatar. It is from a photo I took at a sculpture garden on vacation several years ago. It reminds me of my background growing up on the family farm where we raised hogs. Pigs are beuatiful too!
