About Sonnia...
Hello! I am Sonnia Jean, married, with one kid and two stepkids. We have two female Tuxedo cats and one female Cavapoo puppy. I'm physically disabled, and I love snail mailing. I'm the Founder of Letters Writers Society. It's fairly new and slowly growing. Message me if you are curious to know what it is all about.
One of the things I collect is a postcard. Other collections include used postage stamps worldwide, rubber stamps, stickers, fountain pens, photos, and stationery.
I live in a small town called Pinole in the San Francisco Bay Area of California. The name derives from "pinol," a Nāhuatl word for a kind of flour made from the seeds of maize, chia, and various other grasses and annual herbs. An expedition under Pedro Fages was said to have run out of provisions while exploring the area and to have been fed pinole by a local village, so the Spaniards named their camp "El Pinol.". In 2019, I believe, we have an estimated 22,000 residents. It's a quiet town.
I enjoy painting using acrylic and watercolor. I also love planners/journals, and I scrapbook in them and paint/doodle. Once in a while, I travel and buy a lot of postcards from where I visit as souvenirs and Postcrossing exchanges.
About penpaling: I love long letters from long-term letter-writers. I recently founded a pen pal club called the "Letter Writers Society." Our website is up and fully functioning. We do monthly virtual meetings and also in-person meetings here in Pinole. Please message me if you want to learn more about it.
Most of the postcards I have collected contain the following:
- touristy postcards
- cities, cityscapes
- landscapes, seascapes
- architecture (medieval/historical)
- bridges
- lighthouses
- sea, ocean, beach
- countries' best photos
- popular landmarks
