Greetings fellow Postcrossers. My name is Barbara and I live in Sacramento, the capital of California. I have lived here for many years and it is a great location because I am just 2 hours from snowy mountains to the east and the Pacific Ocean (San Francisco) to the west. It rarely gets below freezing in the winter and in the summer we do have days above 100 degrees F. The weather is usually comfortable but I do not like the heat... I prefer cooler coastal weather.

I enjoy traveling and have visited many national parks, museums, and historic sites in the USA. I have also traveled to Hong Kong, Macau, Mexico, Peru, Germany, Austria, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Italy, England, Scotland, and Wales. I want to return to some of those places and also go to new places like Spain, Portugal, Ireland, Denmark, and St. Petersburg.

I volunteer at an animal rescue shelter. I have had pet cats all my life so I work with the cats who are looking for a new home and I like that very much. I adopted my cat Percy from the shelter where I volunteer. Percy is a very fluffy Maine Coon cat and he makes me laugh.

I enjoy being creative, reading mysteries, watching TV, listening to classical music, spending time with friends, baking, sewing clothes for myself and quilts for sick people, visiting museums and buildings of architectural interest, and being outdoors.

I like postcards that have pretty pictures of historic buildings and churches, cities, art sculptures, landscapes and nature, fountains, and interesting places or things. I would like any postcard you send to me but I prefer that they not be selfmade, advertisements, cartoons, childish, erotic or suggestive.

I would like to hear anything about where you live or what you like to do, and if you have a pet, tell me something about it.

My profile picture is a photograph I took of a cottage in Invermorrison Scotland. I took a 50 day vacation/holiday to celebrate my 50th birthday and took that picture (and MANY others) during that trip.
