About Marian...

Hi
My name is Marian, having recently retired I was looking for a new interest when I heard about Postcrossing on the radio. Being an avid sender of post cards to friends and family when I’m on holiday I became intrigued about sending them to strangers. Mainly because my current recipients love it when they get theirs.

I live in Liverpool, UK which is famous for quite a lot of things but in a nutshell it is generally Is associated with the pop group “The Beatles” which generates a lot of tourism; the UNESCO waterfront and the long association with shipping and transport and more unfortunately the slave trade. The population is diverse given the throughput of immigrants into the port from all over the world. It has close links to Ireland and a large Chinese community as well as other ethnic groups.
Of course I mustn’t forget the large part football plays with the two main teams of Liverpool(Reds) and Everton (Blues). Some mention must also go to Tranmere Rovers who are based on the opposite side of the River Mersey( over the water).

My hobbies are painting and decorating which I do for friends and family so that is a constant coming from a large family I also like to sew home furnishing such as curtains and cushions. I potter around in the garden to try and keep it tidy and I make lots of jams and preserves that I give as presents or sell to raise funds for charities. I like walking )mainly on the flat) and reading anything that’s not too gory or chic lit.

My main achievements (apart from having two boys and raising them to two handsome men). I was fortunate to work full time for 45 years and in between I built my own house with a lot of help from neighbours and contractors. I suppose my personal life time achievement is to have donated over 120 samples of whole blood and platelets which has taken me 45 years to complete.

I’m hoping my next adventure of retirement will continue to be as interesting as the last 45 years

Marian
