About Barry...

Kia ora,

I live right down at the bottom of New Zealand. I'm a professional librarian. I love libraries and reading. I almost seem to be setting up my own library at home. I also like to visit and hunt around in second hand bookshops. There's a thrill in finding an old copy of a book, or a book with a really cool old cover. I like having books around and I do spend a lot of my time reading. I enjoy reading about history especially military history and good fiction. I also enjoy photography. I used to collect old film cameras. I'm currently working my way through the Studio Ghilbli movies. They are so lovely to watch.. I love dreampop and shoegazing bands. I have a growing interest in cinema from Eastern Europe. Poland, Russia, Ukraine. If you know of a classic film from this region and beyond please share with me.

To me Postcrossing is about the connections with people. What is written on the back it most important and meaningful. I can find facts about your country on Wikipedia, but not about you. So learning about new people is fun.
I'm open to and like direct swaps.

Any postcard is gratefully accepted but I do have a preference for,

*Black and white photography
*Soviet architecture, (the bigger and more brutal the better)
*Peacocks
*Tarrot/occult
*British mammals, badgers, otters, etc
*1930's and 1940's themed cards
* Nude/erotic (photography)
*Birds and bird illustrations
*Landscapes
*Desolate places
* The Romanovs
* Alexandra Vlasova (if any postcards exist)
* Greek myths and legends
*Soviet kitsch

I'm still after my own holy grail of postcards, Helena Bonham Carter. I know there must be some postcards on that theme, but they remain elusive.

Thanks to some really lovely Postcrossers I have a small but growing collection of fridge magnets. If you would like to swap fridge magnets I will be very interested.
