About Achim...

I'm a retired teacher( English and Art). I live together with my wife in a rural area half way between Stuttgart and Munich. I have got two daughters, three grandchildren and a cat. My interests are travelling, reading and doing craftman's jobs. Occasionally I work as a guide for a coach company.I don't mind what kind of postcard you send me,just tell me a bit about yourself. If it is a postcard of an artist or historical background, I'm happy, too.I live in the middle of a meteor crater that is 15 million years old and 3km wide. The astronauts who landed on the moon in 1969 first came to our meteor crater to find out what the material on the moon would be like.As our crater is rather small( 3km wide ) you can see with your eyes that it is a crater. Here you can find some more information : http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steinheimer_Becken
Here you find a film about the meteor crater:

The village I live in has got 800 inhabitants.
One of my hobbies is collecting stamps. So if you know someone who would like to swap stamps with me, just let me know.
I like it, if you tell me something about the area you live in.
I'm also interested in social and political details about your country. Germany consists of 16 federal states and I live in Baden- Württemberg which has at the moment the first green-red government though we are a rather conservativ area. Our capital is Stuttgart, but I live near the Bavarian border. Every time I send a postcard, I add something to my profile. Today I tell you, that it is fascinating to get to know so many different people all over the world. We have got a new website now: www.steinheim-am-albuch.de
If you can manage, please send me a postcard showing the landscape or the place you live in. Or a postcard of an artist of your country.I don't mind if you send me your postal address, so I can look on google map, where you live.
In our wintertime there used be a lot of snow in our area, you could go skiing, as we are on height over 500 meters. But with the global warming snow doesn't last very long. On Christmas Eve 2012 we had + 24 degrees Centigrade.
The biggest town nearby is Heidenheim, famous for big companies like Voith ( turbines, retarder, locomotives ) and Hartmann (medical equipment )For our British fans, Erwin Rommel was born here.
I hope you don't get tired of reading my profile. When you send me a postcard, please add a little message by e-mail: achim.kuchenbecker@web.de
I always look at the places where you live on google map, that gives me an idea where and how you live.
If you get a postcard by me, don't wonder that the postcards are international. As I said I work as tour guide and I buy postcards everywhere I travel to.
By the way, I'm collecting stamps, so you can send me stamps of your country and you can be sure to get German stamps in return. Here is my postal address: Achim Kuchenbecker, Huelbenweg 14, 89555 Steinheim, Germany. Some stamps in an envelope make me smile!
