I love to travel; have lived many places in the USA and Europe and have traveled to all USA States and to all continents except Antarctica. The best part of travel is getting to know other cultures. We're all different, and we are all the same. Fascinating.
Reading, writing, cooking, astronomy, anthropology/ethnography, archaeology, geology, photography, and geneaology are particular hobbies. Was an athlete in younger days. Also interested in ALL other history, sciences, and arts. Can't pass a museum or book store without entering.
Reading favorites are mysteries, biographies, history, classics....
I like music, from classical to rock to country to blues, to electronic/fusion, and movie scores; but have to admit that I've not kept up with the latest artists. Favorites are Tangerine Dream, Kitaro, Mannheim Steamroller, The Piano Guys....
Love movies; I like the stories and production design of such Chinese directors as Ang Lee and Zhang Yimou. Have a soft spot for great Westerns. My favorite movie is "Lion in Winter."
Am retired from a very fulfilling international management consulting career and now I volunteer and indulge my grandchildren. Some days I don't get out of my pajamas!
Would appreciate any postcards of:
~ Your home country [traditional costumes, food, arts and crafts, history and traditions, legends & fairy tales, people, fabulous scenery, interesting historic buildings, native flora and fauna, etc.]
~ Women and men [young and old], couples, children, fashion ~ photos, illustrations, or paintings
~ Wild animals or birds
~ Street scenes showing people in their natural, unposed surroundings
~ Cards about my hobbies above are also welcome
~ I admire good craftsmanship and beautiful objects
~ Vintage advertisements/posters [Belle Epoque, Art Deco, Art Nouveau...], including historical, propaganda, and political posters. Anything with a strong graphic element
~ Best of all ~ send something YOU consider to be beautiful or that makes you smile [and it will probably make me smile, as well]. I can always stand to broaden my horizons.
I am curious about your interests and whatever makes you happy. Tell me about YOU. I share these postcards with my grandchildren so they can understand the world's cultural and natural variety. You are the best ones to tell that story. Still stuck? Write about:
~ something that you have learned recently
~ how you spend a particular holiday
~ why you chose the postcard you sent
We're never too old to learn or to see life in a new way.
On a political note - I do not support our current president and his policies.
NOTE: All the cards you've sent are genuine favorites because you selected them for me! The 'Favorites' on my wall are ones that I've seen on the site and are posted to give you an idea of my tastes.
