About Michele...

Hi!! Well, I love the written word, so when a young friend told me about this site today, I simply had to join. How lovely to send (and receive) random postcards to/from strangers. I live in New Zealand, a tiny wee country at the bottom of this beautiful planet. We only have 4,000,000 people in our entire country, so, unfortunately, I only speak English. We are a feisty lot - we were the first country to give women the vote (after a long hard fight by some of our suffragettes), we have a nuclear-free policy, and are working very hard to ensure our indigenous people are treated with respect, and that their culture is protected and honoured by all. I'd like to think we are known around the world for our friendliness, but I suspect we are far more famous for our rugby team - 'The All Blacks'. I am a very rare Kiwi, as I know very little about this strange game myself!

I love animals. So much so, I left the corporate world where I had worked for 26 years in the television, music and event industries, and went to University 7 years ago, to do a degree in Animal Welfare. I then taught Companion Animal Care at the same University, but have just recently left and I am now taking some time out to so all the online courses I have purchased over the years and never completed (or even started in many cases) and to explore ways to live a simpler life. I have discovered that more is definitely NOT better and that simplicity definitely provides a lot more space for freedom and joy.

I am very inspired by the younger generation who are starting to understand our connection with all of nature, and who are speaking out with compassion for animals and demanding that we all take better care of this planet we share with them, and of each other.

In my spare time, I love to read, listen to music, visit the theatre, be on or near the sea, and spend time with my beautiful friends (who are, to me, 'Family').

My ultimate dream is to write. For now, I occasionally blog - though I have realised that Facebook has stolen far too much of my time over the last few years, and I have done less and less. So, I'll write postcards instead :-D

That's enough about me - I look forward to hearing more about you if my name comes up in your postcard selection.

Wishing you all the very best,
Michele
