Hi out there,
My name is Ute, I am married and I have one grown-up son.
My hometown is Ansbach, about 50 km west of Nuremberg, the biggest town in Franconia - that's where I used to work for over 33 years, but now I'm retired.

I have been into pen-palling since my school days. And I love travelling - in my time, INTERRAIL was the thing, i.e. travelling by train all over Europe with a backpack. However, I cannot go to all those remote places I would love to see, so pen-palling and my viewcard collection have been a marvellous substitute for me.
Therefore I prefer viewcards of places and historic sights: churches & cathedrals, monasteries, castles & palaces, townhalls, market squares, towers & city walls, lighthouses, windmills - in short, the touristic kind. :)
Apart from my correspondence, I enjoy reading, music & cinema.

My favourite animals are hippos & pygmy hippos, so I have a small collection of hippo cards (photos, illustrations, cartoons – anything hippo!)
I also like Aunties (Old Ladies) by Inge Löök and Blue Cats by Rina Zeniuk, as well as cards of post boxes. And I ♥ POSTCROSSING meet-ups, so meet-up cards are very welcome, too.
