About The_Golden_Age...

Hi Postcrossers!

My favourite decades are the 1920's, 1930's and 1940's. To me, this is the Golden Age. I love watching Old Hollywood movies and listening to music from this era.

I love to visit museums and historic buildings and admire the beauty in everything that is old, broken and imperfect. I love history and I am particularly interested in Scottish, English, French, Welsh, Australian and Native American history.

I am passionate about collecting vintage and antique treasures such as photographs, postcards, cabinet cards, calling cards, love letters, British royal memorabilia and WWI and WWII items. I especially love photos of handsome soldiers (particularly American soldiers from the 1940's), love letters and postcards from the war.

In my spare time, I enjoy writing to my penpals. I love the beauty and romance of the written word, and wildflowers pressed between the pages of a hand written letter makes my heart sing.

I am particularly fond of the following cards:

1920’s to 1940’s – actors, actresses, singers, movies and images of daily life
Black and white photos and sepia photos
Genuine antique and vintage cards
Historic homes and buildings
Famous people and events in history (pre-1950’s)
Rachel Ashwell and Shabby Chic interiors
Lauren Conrad
Pink peonies, roses, lavender and pretty floral artwork
Hugh Jackman, Aidan Turner, Patrick Swayze, Josh Groban, Gerard Butler and James Norton
Vintage movie posters
Retro advertisements
Cary Grant, Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby, Fred Astaire, Dean Martin, Gary Cooper, Ginger Rogers and Audrey Hepburn
Outlander and Poldark
WWI and WWII
Once Upon A Time, Grantchester, Downton Abbey, Dr Quinn: Medicine Woman and A Place To Call Home
Winter scenes and rainy days
Bible verses and Jesus
Castles
Men in kilts
Ornate theatres and chandeliers
Dirty Dancing
The Phantom of the Opera
United Kingdom Kings and Queens
Beautiful scenes from Scotland, England, Wales, Italy, France and Israel

When writing to me, please do tell me a little bit about yourself. If you could travel back in time to any place and time period, where would it be and why? If you could have dinner with 5 people from the past, who would you choose? Or perhaps you could share with me a verse from your favourite poem, or recommend a great book that I should read (historical fiction).

With best wishes from Australia. xxx
