I am a dreamer lost in the past... My favourite decades are the 1920's, 1930's and 1940's. To me, this is the Golden Age. I love watching Old Hollywood movies and listening to music from this era.
I love to visit museums, old cemeteries and historic buildings and admire the beauty in everything that is old, broken and imperfect. I love history and I am particularly interested in Scottish, English, French, Australian and Native American history.
I am very passionate about collecting vintage and antique treasures such as photographs, postcards, cabinet cards, calling cards, love letters, holy communion cards, royal memorabilia, 1940's magazines, French ribbons and delicate lace. I am also very interested in collecting WWI and WWII artefacts and I especially love photos of handsome soldiers, love letters, postcards and uniform buttons. If you happen to have any of these things just collecting dust in your home and would like to re-home them, please feel free to send them my way. I will absolutely treasure them! :)
I love the beauty and romance of the written word, and wildflowers pressed between the pages of a hand written letter makes my heart sing.
I am particularly fond of the following cards:
1920’s to 1940’s – actors, actresses, singers, movies and images of daily life
Black and white photos and sepia photos
Genuine antique and vintage cards
Historic homes and buildings
Famous people and events in history (pre-1950’s)
Rachel Ashwell and Shabby Chic interiors
Pink peonies, roses, lavender and pretty floral artwork
Hugh Jackman, Aidan Turner, Patrick Swayze, Josh Groban and Gerard Butler
Vintage movie posters
Cary Grant, Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby, Fred Astaire, Dean Martin, Ginger Rogers and Audrey Hepburn
Outlander and Poldark
WWI and WWII
Once Upon A Time, Downton Abbey, Dr Quinn: Medicine Woman and A Place To Call Home
Winter scenes and rainy days
Bible verses and Jesus
Men in kilts
Ornate theatres and chandeliers
The Phantom of the Opera
Beautiful scenes from Scotland, England, Wales, Italy, France and Israel
When writing to me, please do tell me a little bit about yourself. If you could travel back in time to any place and time period, where would it be and why? If you could have dinner with 5 people from the past, who would you choose? Or perhaps you could share with me a verse from your favourite poem, or recommend a great book that I should read (historical fiction).
With best wishes from Australia. xxx
