About Edgar...

Hello! My name is Edgar, and I live in the port city of Mobile, Alabama, USA. I really enjoy Postcrossing, and now I have a collection of postcards from nice Postcrossers all over the world. I prefer postcards without envelopes, and I really like interesting stamps if you have them.

I am looking forward to sharing these with my 7 young grandchildren - Keller, Callyn, Lucy, Wesley, Etta, Fox, and Piper. No nudity or images inappropriate for children, please.

Mobile, Alabama is known as the city where Mardi Gras originated in the US in 1830. Mardi Gras is still a big celebration here, but not as big as the New Orleans Mardi Gras. Mobile is the only salt-water port in Alabama, and the city was founded by French colonists who settled here in 1702. You can still see the French influence in some of the street names and in some of the architecture. Many people think "Mobile" is an odd name for a city; it was named after the Native American tribe that lived here before the European explorers and colonists arrived.

Some postcard ideas for you to consider::

-Tourist postcards, map postcards, city views, landscapes, big letter “Grettings from...” postcards.

-Cathedrals, Churches, Saints, the Vatican, Sistine Chapel, Pope Francis, Temples, Synagogues, Mosques, and other religious-themed cards.

-Amateur Radio, Telegraphy, Morse Code, vintage radios, communications equipment.

-Planets, stars, the sun, the moon, space exploration.

-Art and Artists, Books and writers. Cartoons, comics. Black and white photography. Portraits or photographs of notable persons.

-Magic - Houdini, Slydini, Thurston, Ricky Jay, Penn & Teller, classic magic posters.

-Music - Grateful Dead, any 60's or 70's rock, Jazz, Bluegrass, Blues, etc. What music do you enjoy? You can send a postcard of your favorite musical genre or group.

-German Postcrossers: I've loved Kraftwerk since the 1970s, starting with "Autobahn". Anything related to Kraftwerk would be a fabulous addition to my collection.

-Fotofolio postcards are great. Pantone postcards are nice, too.

Please don't stress over which card to send. Any card in my mailbox will be received with a smile.

Support Postcrossing if you can. Think of it as planting smiles around the world.

Be kind. It's important.

Edgar
