About SzczurTorebkowy...

Together with my husband and eleven years old son I live in Łódź the third biggest city in Poland. It was practically a village until nineteenth century with wild industrialisation happened. Then it grew rapidly and was famous for its textile industry, but what I like most about this time is that there lived together people of many nations: Poles, Jews, Russians and Germans here.
I love reading and since I've got a kindle there are no more difficult questions like: is there enough place for a book the handbag I'm going to buy or where to put all those new books I want to have. Great invention - ebooks. Oh, and my job is one big opportunity to watch, touch and smell books - I'm a librarian in a university library (oook ;) ).
I like learning languages or to be more precise, speaking foreign languages. I enjoy traveling abroad, realizing time after time that people over there really not only speak but also think in other languages. For the last couple of years it happens that this abroad was mainly Tuscany. I've fallen deeply and madly in love with this part of world.
Watching a starting plane moves me almost to tears - such a everyday magic.
I enjoy cross-stitching <3
Few years ago I discovered the world of modern board games, since then our collection has been growing surprisingly fast...
Sport is not my thing but I enjoy good yoga class.

I love it when there is a wish list in a PC profile, it's so much more fun to choose a postcard then. Plus I've got the feeling I'm more likely to choose the one that will bring joy.

So here are the motives I enjoy:
- Wimmelbilder (you know, the kind of "Where's Wally" or Bruegel scenes with lots of people and things, pidifrk)
- Charles Wysocki like towns,
- Atelier Nouvelles Images kind of postcards (white backgroud and many different things of one kind),
- maps (those with drawings are the best),
- old botanical illustrations,
- broad, open landscapes (rolling hills, coastal dunes, fields) especially misty ones, with touch of melancholy
- half-timbered buildings,
- azulejos, mosaics,
- interesting details,
- windows, doors, gates, especially decorated with plants,
- shop or bar entrances,
- local food or flower markets,
- insides of libraries,
- stupas,
- hugs,
- non-Latin and non-Cyrillic alphabets,
- linguistic curiosities,
- Moomins,
- Krtek,
- Pettson and Findus,
- Mamma Moo,
- Inge Löök's ladies,
- Josef Lada's towns

Please, NO handmade cards and no PC meetup cards. I also don't like photos with unreal, sweet, photoshopped colours, you know, the kind you can find in most wall calendars.

But of course any card will be appreciated :)

And, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, write me something that would help me to know you a little better: what you like, what you dislike, your peculiar habits, something that makes you unique, what makes your life worth living, your harmless secret, what are you thinking at the moment... The more, the better!
