About Daria...

My great-grandmother survived WW2, and although I was very young when she passed away, I still remember her stories about the war. She would always say ‘There is nothing scarier than war’. Growing up and learning history, I only became more convinced of the veracity of her words. I could never conceive that I, just like my ancestors, would be a witness of war. As many people may already know, on 24 February 2022 russia commenced a full-scale invasion. They're destroying our cities, killing and torturing innocent people. What russians have done in Bucha, Irpin, Mariupol, Bakhmut, Avdiivka, Marinka, Sievierodonetsk, and hundreds of other cities – is genocide. But I know we’ll win and survive, just like my great-grandparents did. And just like them, I’ll teach my children that there can be nothing scarier than war.

Hello! My name is Daria, I'm a translator from\into English and Chinese, and I'm fascinated with the history and cultural aspects of different countries, especially Asian ones. If you know Chinese (or Spanish\French) - feel free to write some phrases, words, or even the whole message in this language, test me!
I have a penchant for reading books, especially of the Romanticism and Realism movements (Victor Hugo takes a special place in my heart 💔); and watching films (I adore Danish and South Korean cinematography). I recently took a liking to film photography, and I'm obsessed with vintage postcards, photos, clothes, etc. Can't restrain myself from walking past the thrift shops :)

If you don't know what to say:

✒️ Write about a film\book that has impressed you the most or even changed your perception of life
✒️ Describe the unique traditions, beliefs, and folklore of a country you live in
✒️ Tell some funny or sweet story, maybe a relishing memory from childhood
✒️ About your lovely pet (I myself have a chihuahua and two lovebirds)
✒️ Favorite place\city in your country that everyone should visit
✒️ My family and I are convinced that we saw a UFO, have you seen or experienced something like that? Do you believe in aliens, ghosts, or mysterious creatures?
✒️ Are you a sweet tooth? Do you have a favorite dish?
✒️ I just finished reading 'A Little Life' (absolutely hated it) and '1984' (absolutely loved it), I'm curious what you think of those!

I'll be grateful for all kinds of cards! Still, there are some topics I'm especially interested in:

📜 History (Middle Ages, WW1\2, Victorian era, historical figures & events)
🎬 Everything related to the cinema, directing, and actors
🐈 Animals (especially birds, cats, amphibians & bats)
🎞️ Vintage posters and photos
🀣 Maxicards
🏛️ Architecture, heritage sites
🎨 Paintings, Art in general

Also, I'm fond of stamps and coins, so if it's not too much trouble for you to send some of those or any trinket, I would be grateful, and I'd do the same for you in return :)

Happy Postcrossing! Have a nice day! 💌🕊
