My name is Sicco. Nice to meet you here!
Have always lived and worked in the province of Fryslân / Friesland situated in the north of the Netherlands. It has its own culture, the Frisian language is spoken there and its capital Leeuwarden / Ljouwert was European Capital of Culture 2018: a 5 €uro coin has been minted for this event.
Since February 1999 I live with my husband Jan in Harkstede, a village 12 kms from the old university city of Groningen, capital of the province with the same name, in the north as well.
We are Christians - members of the worldwide New Apostolic Church.
For the LGBTI members, their relatives and friends the Rainbow-NAC group has been founded in 1999.
I am retired and like a walk, corresponding, e-mailing, internet, some TV programs, photographing (in particular flowers), restaurants for a good meal. Already for years a collector of exclusive MINT stamps. Since €uro year 2002 started with UNCirculated 2 €uro special coins.
Like postcards with town-, village scapes and its surroundings of
15 x 10,5 cms most.
IF POSSIBLE, PLEASE PUT IT IN AN ENVELOPE, using commemorative stamps, f.e. EUROPA stamps. So I have not to damage the cards
We both love museums and go there with our Museumkaarten (Museum Cards for good 400 museums) and travel by train with an OV (PT) Chipkaart.
Always pleasant are visits to Amsterdam with Het Rijksmuseum, the Amsterdam Museum or other museums.
Very special is Het van Gogh Museum Amsterdam and Het Kröller-Müller Museum in Het Nationale Park "De Hoge Veluwe", showing much work by van Gogh as well.
We also could go to Het Mauritshuis in Den Haag/The Hague and so meet there Vermeer's "Girl with a Pearl Earring". There are a lot of other beautiful paintings. Likewise are nearer to us het Fries Museum in Leeuwarden, Drents Museum in Assen and Groninger Museum in Groningen, which also have good exhibitions.
Fond of travelling. We have visited several countries in Europe and outside: South Africa + Swaziland, Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, Namibia + Cape Town, NY and north-eastern USA.
Love Great Britain!! Have spent our 3-weeks holidays there in 2000, 2001 and in 2002 incl. Ireland and since 2007 each year visiting a different area, always by own car via the tunnel. The last time in June 2017 we have seen "Midsomer Murders" villages and even met Inspector John Barnaby. We could see much interesting architecture, lovely places and nature during those years!
