Retired after 35 years at the phone company. I have a love of dogs and I really missed having one around, so I decided to open my home to care for other peoples dogs, basically Airbnb for dogs. I have lived in my home for the past 16 years and I have a son and daughter that are grown up and live away from here. I love to travel and I have been many places with many more yet to see. When I turned 50, I decided if I am going to see this world I better get out there and see it. I booked a trek adventure to Egypt & Jordan, had a wonderful time and I have never looked back. I've been to Aruba, Australia, Cambodia, Columbia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Cyprus, Denmark, Egypt, El Salvador, England, Germany, Greece, Guatemala, Ireland, Jordan, Laos, Lesotho, Malaysia, Mexico, Morocco, New Zealand (4 times), Nicaragua, Panama, Portugal, South Africa, Sweden, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, USA (28 states - not NY & east coast yet) & Vietnam.
Where I live, Edmonton, capital of Canada's Alberta province, sits on the North Saskatchewan River and it is North America's northernmost city with a metropolitan population over one million. Edmonton is a cultural, governmental and educational center. It hosts a year-round slate of festivals, reflected in the nickname "Canada's Festival City". It is home to North America's largest mall, West Edmonton Mall (the world's largest mall from 1981 until 2004) and Fort Edmonton Park, Canada's largest living history museum where the past is recreated with an 1846 fort and themed streets from different times. Edmonton is 4 hours from the beautiful Rocky mountains, where I to go and practice my photography.
I collect postcards and send them to my friends and family on my journey I really love silver jewelry and I tend to buy to much of it! I also try and walk about 11 km a day especially when I am caring for dogs, so my preference is to walk first then public transportation. I love the ocean but I live on the prairies so the only beachfront property I'll ever be able to afford is a sandcastle.
I will be glad to receive your postcards especially those that revolve around photography - great sights, Atlas Obscura, national parks, landscapes, maps, funny, dogs or unusual things like Dragons and Mermaids, Lantern Press, vintage travel posters. I love colorful things and if you create your own postcards, I would love to receive one. For 2019, I have decided I would like to collect the US State and National Park postcards if you have access to them. I do not wish to make demands and in the end, I hope you choose a card that you think best for me. Tell me a little bit about your life - possibly what is your most crazy, funny, brave, motivational or even embarrassing story that happened to you. May you have peace and love in your life, long may you run (Neil Young). Please add your profile name to your postcard so I can read about you before I message you back.
p.s. I have been published on Atlas Obscura https://www.atlasobscura.com/places
