Hello!

I'm 30 years old and I live in the rocky mountain west. I grew up in a place called the "Magic Valley." It was once considered an oddity/magic! area because while it's a desert, it's very productive agriculturally. All thanks to the wonders of irrigation, this otherwise dry, sagebrush-y place is able to grow tons of potatoes!

I love learning about people's stories and what inspires them.
My grandma is one of my biggest inspirations. She recently passed away, but even at 91 years old, she was one of the most prolific artists I knew. She primarily worked with textiles- spinning yarn, weaving on a giant loom, and using the woven materials to sew into various items like dress jackets and pillows. Two years ago, she made a series of stuffed animals including giraffes, elephants, and lions. I have now started weaving on a loom myself. It's a big learning curve!

Activities I enjoy: reading the news, podcasts like "this american life," doodling and playing around on photoshop, hiking and snowshoeing, bicycling, weightlifting, visiting museums of all kinds, thrift shopping, sharing coffee or beer with friends. I'm also very interested and involved in the fight against poverty. Generally this leads me to volunteer a lot with local not-for-profit organizations and also bigger groups like Oxfam America.
