About Karen...

Things I enjoy--reading (especially mysteries, suspense & historical novels); listening to many genres of music; machine sewing; embroidery & needlework (I've recently rediscovered crochet); making jewelry; watching DIY tv programs; remodeling my home; gardening; traveling (I've done a fair bit of international traveling); meeting new people & participating in cultural exchanges; drinking beer & wine; cooking; thrift store/flea market shopping; being in the company of friends & family; spoiling my grandchildren (2 boys); being retired.

My adult daughter told me about Postcrossing & I think the concept is fabulous; these days it seems that one rarely gets any 'real' mail in the post so the thought of actually receiving a piece of mail like a postcard is downright thrilling! 8-)

I DO NOT WANT ANY OVERTLY RELIGIOUS THEMED CARDS but any cards with photos of historic churches, synagogues, mosques, temples etc. ARE welcome but without any overt or covert proselytizing; scenic views of the sender's home country (or any nature-themed card) & cultural themes of the sender from anywhere in the world in general; photos of artwork, animals, buildings, bridges, lighthouses (I am especially fond of bridges & lighthouses); photos of family &/or friends of sender or anything the sender is passionate about; photos of everyday objects the sender finds interesting or important; holiday & birthday greeting cards as well as any handmade cards are good. I REALLY enjoy photos of interesting architecture & architectural building features. I enjoy postal stamps from other countries (I used to work for the US Postal Service); I apologize in advance that American international postage stamps are rather dull. :-/

I am looking forward to receiving postcards & think that this site is an amazing way for people to reach out & touch the hearts of people throughout the world!

Can you help me with my expired cards? I always send a reminder message after 30 days en route to inquire if the recipient wants me to send a replacement card; I admit it is frustrating for me when someone STILL doesn't respond. *sigh*
