About QUILTGAL...

Hi there!

I am an older gal with a younger spirit. Currently I enjoy the pastimes of hand drumming, mini art quilting, geocaching, letterboxing, travelling, photography, sewing, and print making. I like to walk the local trails, ride my bicycle and take my kayak onto the lake or river close to home.

I also do some volunteer work and sew simple dresses and fiesta skirts for 2 charities.

In 2009 I retired from my job as an industrial mechanic in a nuclear power plant. Retirement has been a lot of fun!

Any subject on a post card will be OK. My favourite photographic images are close up photos of great architectural details (for example: metal art work on ancient doors), close ups to show texture, indigenous people and their clothing, ruins and sacred sites, and wild colors and patterns.

My Town atmosphere......

Because post cards are too small to write a story about my town, please read it here.

I live in a summer tourist beach town called Port Elgin. On some maps, our area is also called Saugeen Shores. Year round, many people living here work at a nearby power plant producing electricity. We are surrounded by farm land for animals and fruit trees and basic food crops.

Port Elgin is on the shores of Lake Huron and our beach is very popular during the summer. We host live music at the band shell every Sunday evening, and there is a crafts market set up there on Wednesdays. A few years ago the town built a fun water park for the children to play in at the beach park. We have a very well attended art program at the Southampton Art School and gallery facility. There are lots of connecting trails for hiking, biking, snowshoeing, all terrain vehicles and tons of new Butterfly gardens in our area. Some of the most beautiful sunsets can be seen here too.
