About Maria...

Hello there!

My name is Mary. I'm a bachelor and master MSLU (Moscow) graduate, majoring in English and German.
I work in the local centre for gifted children, but currently I'm on maternity leave.
I love reading fiction (my favourites are the Gadfly, Little Women, Harry Potter series, Arthur Hailey books and many others), drawing (sometimes painting by numbers😅, as well), writing family stories with my husband, knitting, hiking, taking family pictures (I also print them and put into albums because for me digital photos represent a very unreliable way to store memories) and pictures of nature, climbing volcanoes of Kamchatka (that's where I live) and simply spending time with my family and friends.

I'm looking forward to meeting new people, penpals through postcrossing. I think it's a great opportunity to learn more about different cultures, get to know interesting people, and make friends. So I am not a stamps or postcard collector, but still I value each card that I get!

Most of all I like postcards with some local theme (a village, city, country you are from or anything connected to your culture or motherland). It can be cards with nature, animals, architecture, streets, landscapes of any kind typical of your place... or cards with illustrations and paintings from your local museums, parks, zoos, theatres, and gallaries.

I also like funny cards (memes, cute animals, etc.) and those with some phrases in your language.

But feel absolutely free to choose anything you personally like. Every card is special for me and tells me a bit of the person who has sent it.

Oh, and I'll really appreciate some tiny story on the back about anything at all (your country, city, about yourself, your likes/dislikes, your cat (or maybe dog), your job, etc.) The back of the card is even more important than its front for me.

Cards with only "Happy Postcrossing!" make me really sad(

P.S.
In case you're at a loss for ideas, write you favourite quote or riddle) or some lines of your favourite poem.

Or if you like, you can answer the question "If you had to name 1 word to characterize your city/ town/ country, then what would it be?"
Or you can draw something if you don't feel like writing.
