About Emyr...

Hi, hasn't time flown?! I have been Postcrossing for a while now and I have been very fortunate to receive wonderful postcards from all over the world from other Postcrossers. What I have enjoyed more is choosing lovely postcards to send to other Postcrossers!

I have always been fascinated with post cards, growing up my grandmothers (and my great-grandmother) had boxes full of old family photographs, they were all printed in black and white or sepia, but the one thing they all had in common, they were printed on postcard stock! Many had been sent from nieces, nephews, cousins, and had messages and stamps on them, but they were all photos of family or friends, or maybe the Sunday school trip in the old charabanc (old open topped bus). Printing photos on postcard stock and sending them to family is something that has long been lost, today it has been replaced with email and Facebook :-( and to me this is why Postcrossing as a hobby is so appealing!

I have had some really pretty post cards so far. Thank you! I really enjoy getting them!

So about me, I enjoy walking, in the countryside and the seaside. 'R wy'n siarad Cymraeg! I speak Welsh!

As for postcard preference, I like almost anything, I enjoy great views (landscapes) the most, the seaside, especially great seaside landscapes with impressive light houses.

Postcards of nature, the stars, milky way, dragons (Hey I am Welsh!) and wildlife are welcome, as are B&W cards. I also like great designs and fabulous architecture. I have had some amazing oriental cards, they are very welcome.

I would rather not receive any seasonal cards such as Christmas cards, Easter cards nor birthday cards either please.

I would prefer to get a post card, with a message on the back (not in an envelope if at all possible), I suppose the magic for me is the simplicity of those old B&W photos of my grandparents, with a simple message written on the back, that were kept in a box, to be taken out and enjoyed time and time again, seeing the pretty stamp, marvelling at how little it cost way back then.

I try to make all the cards I send personal to me, they will be cards from places I have been to or visited, or local to where I am when I send them.

I also try to buy and use unusual stamps. I did have a good stock of the Charles Dickens stamps which featured Mrs Gamp, but they have just run out sorry. Now, I have some from the Royal Mail's 'Working Horses' collection.

As for my collection of cards that I send, I try to buy cards wherever I visit either for pleasure or work. I also try to get unusual 'art' cards or sc-fi cards such as Dr Who. I will try to send you a card that I think you will like.

I don't do swaps sorry.

I hope you enjoy Postcrossing as much as I already have in this short time since I have joined!

Diolch - Thank you!

Pob hwyl,

Emyr
