I'm an artist. I dabble in various art forms (photography, mixed media, creative writing) but i mainly work with fibres now. I currently create stitched paintings, hand-embroidered beads/pendants/broaches, and miniature needle-felted dollies. (I made the one posted as my avatar above). Art is my passion! I'm a member of the Embroidery Association of Canada, a member of my local Embroidery Guild, and i'm the program co-ordinater of our local Fibre Arts Guild.
During the summer and autumn i work on a farm, harvesting and preparing garlic for market. During the year, i work as a housekeeper for the elderly. I spend the rest of my free time developing my craft. I'm also a part-time house-sitter, babysitter, and dog-sitter. I'm a quirky, freckled, vegetarian health-nut, and frequently shave/donate my long red locks to those in need.
In my spare time i enjoy walking/hiking, snowshoeing, biking, birding, reading, writing stories, music, puzzles/boardgames, browsing etsy.com, films (especially claymation/stop-motion shorts), and The Walking Dead. I love watermelon, peppermint tea, flannel pillowcases, ladybugs, dogs, nature/wildlife, hot-air balloons, moody music, theatre, comedy, clowns/mimes, marionettes/puppets, Garfield comics, vibrant colors, beads, unique chair designs, travelling, the ocean, beach combing, and finding treasures at a yard sale or thrift store. I also seem to collect art, antique photos/postcards, images of characters with red hair, bones/skulls, heart-shaped rocks, sand from places i travel to, mementos of the past, and anything miniature that catches my fancy.
I'm excited to make/send handmade postcards around the world! I'd love to receive anything homemade, but will accept whatever postcard you send. Be creative!! And please register the postcards i send before they expire.
Update: My country is now currently in a state of emergency, as 11 of our 13 provinces have been affected by the coronavirus Covid-19. Please be aware that your postcard may take a little longer to arrive due to everything being closed in our towns (except hospitals, pharmacies, grocery stores, gas stations, and thankfully postal service). We are in self-isolation in our homes and appreciate receiving mail. It definitely brightens MY day! To all of you dealing with the same, know that I’m thinking of you and hoping for better days ahead. We will get through this.
