About Judy...

My home is located in a small town in northwestern Iowa near the Missouri River, Iowa's western border. 1215 people live in my town. Loess hills can be seen to the east and hills of Nebraska's eastern border can be viewed to the west. This is an agricultural area. Farmers plant crops all around my town.

Gardening is my favorite spring, summer, fall activity. Reading fills my time in winter. Historical novels are my favorite genre. Jigsaw puzzles are a fun passtime when Iowa weather keeps me inside.

I had to say good-bye to my 19-year old cat, Sam, this summer. He had simply lived out all nine of his lives. The newcomer in my house is a dark tabby with four white paws. Her dark markings are absoutely symmetrical. She is very playful and growing fast. She is named Charlie. Charlie Girl will help to fill the large emptiness created when Sam left my household.

I am a seasoned Master Gardener. Ornamental grasses, native perennials, water-wise flowers, shrubs, bulbs, and trees fill my yard. A small number of vegetables also grow in my garden. I feed birds year-around. Squirrels are also welcome at my feeders.

NCAA Basketball and football are my favorite spectator sports. My grandchildren are volleyball, basketball, and track athletes.

Teaching was my profession. For 32 years I taught middle school students. Favorite subjects were geography, cultural subjects, art history.

Another pastime for me is playing piano. Occasionally I play for church.

All kinds of postcards are welcome in my mailbox. Maps, geography, and history are favorite topics of mine. Postcards with animals, cats, dogs, flowers, birds, the seasons...any scenes from nature would be appreciated and enjoyed. If there is something special about your location, I would enjoy hearing about it. Send your postcards this way.
