JUST NOW: We are living a strange period of time - hopefully only a once-in-a-lifetime experience - with corona affecting the lives of people in most countries. I'm interested in history and I would like it if you could share with me something about your life in these days. If you find it distressing and want to forget about corona while postcrosiing, I fully understand that, too. As for me, I live on my own, but I communicate with my relatives and friends every day via whatsap/facebook/phone calls/snapchat and occasional video calls. I try to stick to my daily and weekly routines and have so far managed quite well. I enjoy walks and bicycle rides in the forest and sitting on my balcony with my afternoon coffee. I continue my hobbies at home. Instead of going on my quilting and pilates courses, I do quilting at home and pilates with an online group. I read and listen to audio books. I go to my nearby shop once a week at about 23-24 at night to buy food for the next week. So far I am doing fine, but, of course, if this goes on for months and months, I don't know...🤔. So, what does your "corona life" look like? What are your ways to enjoy your life these days? Do you do voluntary work - or get help from others? It would be interesting to collect an "archive" of postcards with corona moments around the world.
I'm a newly (2018) retired language teacher from Helsinki, the capital of Finland. For me, important things in Helsinki are the sea, the near-by Central Park and forest, my relatives and friends who live here. It is a great luxury to have so much time for oneself now. I have lots of plans for the future years: e.g. travelling, reading, excercising, going to concerts (my very dear niece plays the clarinette and I try to hear her as often as possible), and sewing - a fairly new but very fascinating hobby! And, naturally postcrossing - other countries, cultures and people have interested me since my childhood. I love to read people's messages on the cards! I'm particularly interested in the everyday live and its details in different places (homes, interiors, gardens, food, school, work, hobbies etc.). Looking forward to hearing from other postcrossers!
I'll be happy to receive any kinds of postcards, but here is a list of some of my favourites, if you want some ideas:
- cards showing your town/village and life there
- cards showing books, reading people etc.
- retro cards
- old travel and other posters
- postcrossing meetup cards
- maximum cards
- covers of books or (preferably old) magazines
- pictures of educational charts
- cards with nature, wildlife, beautiful landscapes
- cards related to sewing, knitting etc.
- cards related to music or instruments
I hope that the list will offer you help and not stress - don't let it tie you 😉.
