Living in a small but boring town in the heart of Holland, I escape through my books and my photography. I like to create music and art, and play the harp. I can find immense delight in the simple pleasures of life, such as the curves of a leaf, fierce grey clouds or the ancient stones of an old building.
The colour green is my favourite (although I love all the colours of the rainbow) because it represents nature. Lush forests and hilly landscapes with meadows and woods attract me. I especially like the sight of a cute little village in a valley, the steeple peeping out.
Furthermore, I enjoy old houses, especially quaint ones like cottages in the Cotswold Hills (England), but old city centres always have something enchanting about them as well. Especially the roof lines of houses are incredibly cute.. Landscape/cityscape postcards are sure to get a lot of love!
Books in general always look so pretty, and rows of books in bookshelves often make me swoon.
Combinations of colours have always been important to me, it is often the use of colour that attracts me in a postcard. If you are looking for ideas for a postcard to send and still have a card with beautiful colours lying around, I'd really enjoy it.
I play the Sims 2, which I like because it allows me to create my own dynamic world. I then use that world to take pictures of or write stories about, and you can find those things on my livejournal, which is listed as my website.
Finally some other random things I enjoy..
I like watching NCIS, it's about the only thing I watch on tv, although I recently discovered Doctor Who and fell in love! I like singing - songs from Disney classics and musicals ("Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat" is my favourite of all time, I know the entire musical by heart). I like raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens. I like apples and cats and little bridges over little creeks. I like the changing of the seasons and the years passing by. I like the Middle Ages and learning and magic. I like tea and pumpkins and smiling to a starry sky.
I loved reading the Harry Potter books and participated in the fandom for a while. Nowadays I'm turning more to Jane Austen novels and the like.
English is my favourite language although I'm warming up to Dutch, my native tongue. I am currently learning Swedish, and I would also like to learn Finnish. So to all you Finnish people at Postcrossing, I would very much enjoy it if you put a Finnish phrase on the postcard you got assigned to send me! :)
