About Nancy...

First of all, I am retired from working part-time as an administrative assistant / secretary at two (separately) of the five colleges in a three-town area. I began work as a teacher after college - first, high school art - then, 6th grade, all subjects (both in Louisiana) - then elementary school art at two schools (in Texas). We moved to Massachusetts with a two-year old & a newborn baby. To teach again would have required going back to school - so, I took up being a secretary part-time while my (now adult) children were growing up and going to school & just continued with it.

I am a Scorpio (as is my husband & daughter!, son is Sagitarius) - & on the Chinese calendar, I am a Dragon. I am a mother of two grandsons, one born in 1962 & the other in 2010.

I have lived in Louisiana, Texas, & Massachusetts - & traveled to England (mostly to London & E.Sussex) - as well as to Canada by car (Montreal, Quebec City, Toronto, Ottawa) - to Mexico City by rail from South Texas in 1967 - & had a 2-week trip to China in 1984, with a small group of 14 people primarily interested in fiber arts (Shanghai, Suzhou, Hangzhou, Nanjing, Xian, Chengdu, Beijing).

Amherst, Massachusetts is a small town in the rural, agricultural, western part of the state. There are 3 colleges in town: UMass, & Amherst & Hampshire Colleges. Nearby (9 miles each) are 2 more schools, Smith College in Northampton & Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley.

The poet Emily Dickinson lived here (b.1830-d.1886) - & I live a few blocks from her family homestead (museum). The poet Robert Frost once lived here & taught at Amherst College. Also in Amherst, is the Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art (children's book illustrations) & the Yiddish Book Center - please 'google' for more information on those.

My interests: * Genealogy / family history. * My husband & I belong to a writing group (memoir type). * I am on the computer a lot & follow a few book blogs. * I like drawing & watercolor (though I want to be, I am not doing anything right now). * I have taught weaving on floor looms & belonged to a spinners' group (though I am not active in either now).

Postcards: I would like to know more about where you live, so postcards from your geographic area or places of interest there - or whatever represents _your_ interests & travels. * I also like art cards, black & white photography, & photos of authors & artists (your favorites, maybe?).
