I have been travelling somewhat for the past 8 years, but I found it to be addictive and I simply cannot get enough. I would love to meet the local residents and see how they live and which markets they go to, the food they eat... I particularly enjoyed Italy and the very expressive Italians. Napoli was an absolute joy to me. The history and some very quirky tales we were told.
My life at home in South Africa is very quiet, I am a farmer and I take pride in my products. My dogs are my only children, and I would not have it any other way. My husband and I own some horses, we still take part in polocrosse, of which South Africa is the two time World Champions.
I love music, arts, crafts and gardening, it brings me peace. Peace is a much needed emotion and situation in South Africa. As we have very violent crimes here which is not reported to any news channels in the world. I often feel threatened and considered emigrating to a safer country, but the idea vanishes very quickly as I love my country, the people and my family and animals. And at my age, 50, it is very hard to get accepted in other countries. The city where I live is famous for the Peace treaty signed between the English and the Boers in 1900. Vereeniging, in Afrikaans, my mother tongue, means to Unite. I have a reasonable variety in music, I have a bit of classical, Blues, 60, 70, 80, 90's and very little of the modern music,. I do not like rap, hip hop, or club music. Leonard Cohen, Louis Armstrong are some of my all time favoraites.
Please send Post cards of your area where you live, or of the local crafts, and other activities. I also like post cards of architecture and doors! Doors and entrances are always telling a story as soon as you open it.
