About Monique...

Hello you,

My name is Monique and I'm 57 years old.
I live in Langdorp-Aarschot in Flanders Belgium, with my husband and our 7 year old dog "Mazzel". We don't have any children.

At school I had a technical training (I was the only girl among 20 boys for 3 years). That is why, in the past, I had mostly 'men's jobs'. I was volunteer in the Belgian Army when I was 18 years old; I have worked with many machines; on roofs; and so on; When I was a child I always helped my father with the renovations he did at home. I'm not afraid to make my hands dirty.
I always want to know how something is made, or how it works. (I have dissected the talking dolly of my elder sister when I was a kid...) That is why I love programs on TV like "Made by destruction", "Food Factory", "How do they do it" "Tree-house Masters", "DIY SOS", "House Rules", and so on. But also "Father Brown", the oldies: "Colombo" and "Murder, she wrote", "Poirot" and "CSI"...

It is also because my curiosity that I became a printer. (a few years back, I did screen-printing on t-shirts at home. I like the work of Andy Warholl)
Since 1999 I work for bpost Belgium, Philately & Stamps Production. We make all the stamps for Belgium (and some other countries).
I have worked at the big printing machines... (The stamps I use are my own... I have payed for them!) Our department makes also the 'personalized stamps', stamps that are made with a picture that the customer choose.
For the last 10 years I do a lot of pre-press work, and I make many things for Philately & Stamps Production: posters, flyers, banners, gifts, technical drawings for new perforation, new layout's for existing products, etc ...except stamps... Maybe one day...

In our city we have 6 mills, I'm a volunteer at the windmill in Langdorp, I have a certificate for working with wind- and watermills. I am very proud of that.

I am also a volunteer in the 'Roemenië Comité Diest'. We go each year with a group of volunteers to 'Apold' in Romania (Transylvania... Yes, where Dracula was born!) to help the people of the town with a lot of little and big jobs.

I have a lot of interests, I'm a Pinterest-addict: "So much interesting things... so little time..." When you receive my address you can find me, use my name.

I like mills.
And stamps, of course!
Dogs also.
I like the "Postallove" postcards Greetings from... Interesting!! ( I have received The Netherlands, Germany, Taiwan, Czech Republic, United Kingdom, Finland, Malta).
From America I like also the cards of the states 'Greetings from...', I only have New Jersey.
In fact, you make me happy with ANY KIND OF CARD.

I like it when you put your USERNAME on the card, so I can learn who you are before I register the card. It is so much easier to write a thank-you note.
Many thanks!

Thanks for reading my (long) profile!
Happy postcrossing.
Greetings from Langdorp-Aarschot in Belgium,
