Bom dia mundo! My name is Mariana and I'm a Portuguese young woman studying Archaeology in the US. The one thing you should know about me is that Art and History guide my life. I'm a scuba diver who absolutely loves theater, now trying to speak Chinese and get a job as an underwater archaeologist. Despite these interests, I'm suspiciously curious about everything else.

I work at the International Cinema of my university as a projectionist, so most of my time is spent watching movies (I'm particularly fond of silent movies) or reading about Martians and Age of Discovery (I also study, a lot). Normally you can find me wandering around, looking for the unexpected in some deep trench, sharing a tube with my brother in some random beach, or just trying to figure out what I am supposed to do with my life.

In my view, the best thing you can theoretically do with your life is to learn as much as you can, and because the best way to learn is indeed to travel, my lifetime goal is to backpack around the world, making movies along the way. While I'm waiting, Postcrossing nourishes my ambition.

Now, as for postcards, I'll be thrilled to receive anything displaying:

-History and Archaeology: old maps, digs, ancient sites, UNESCO protected sites, letters, old portraits, circus, vintage, turn of the 20th century, Chinese contacts with the West, Medieval, Age of Discovery, Ships, etc.

-Colorful portraits and cultural events: Holi (for example), traditional costumes, elderly people from your country, typical landscape and wildlife (in case you're wondering, cute cats and dogs do not qualify for this category), unique landmarks, etc.

-Art and artists: hand-made, actors, painters, cinematographers, movie posters, paintings, book covers, illustration, sculpture, music, musicians, concerts, publicity (legit posters, not add-cards), accordion, circus (and elephants), etc.

On the back, if you like to draw, write poetry, share life lessons, or describe daring experiences, please, please do so. I'll be the happiest person on the planet!
