About Maija...
I'm 62 years young woman living in Finnish countryside, in Northern Savonia, between cities Mikkeli and Kuopio. I live with my husband, our two daughters are adults and live on their own. We have two little grandson.
We are living in a little farm and I have specialized to grow herbs. My favorities are mints - and I even collect them, I have now about 60 different species of mints.
We have 3 cats, they are red-orange common domestic cats.
My hobbies are gardening, taking photos, collecting postcards and nice looking things, for example Christmas ornaments and other old little things. I love to go out to see and take photos of nature, specially rocks, cliffs and caves and plants. I like traveling, too. In cities I prefer to see churches, castles and other old buildings, including bridges. But at first I always want to visit a market-place of the city and maybe sit and relax in the open-air cafeteria, looking at the people passing by. And I love to go flea markets as well, and cemeteries - the older the better. I'm interested in reading maps while travelling, but also at home when planning. A map in my hands tells me much more than a navigator does.
My favorite books since my childhood: Anne of Green Gables and Laura Ingals-Wilder books.
My favorite movie: The bridges of Madison County.
My favorite singers/bands: I listen to 60' and 70' music most, and some Finnish singers, but if I have to mention one name there's no doubt: Bruce Springsteen (been in one concert, Helsinki 2012) and of bands: Queen!!
I'm a moonstruck. When it's full moon, I must go out and try to make the perfect photo of it!
If you happen to have a postcard of some of my interests, I would be happy. But any card makes me happy! Favorites on my wall show both my received favorites and nice cards on the gallery I'd like to receive.

I started this Postcrossing April 2018, as a therapy for my paralysed hand and confused mind. I had suffered a stroke, and got my right side paralysed just 2 months earlier. so I wanted to start something new, because I had to leave back so many things from my earlier life. I loved that feeling to get cards from all over the world, as a normal, healhty person, not paralysed one. Now, September 2019, after 360 cards, I have learned my handwriting quite nice, learned to walk normal, got driving licence back, etc. Am I going to leave this hobby - NO, never. You all, my friends here, and Postcrossing is one of my favorite hobbies now! I cannot say, which is more thrilling, to open my mailbox or to wait, when my card goes to it's destination. And if my card to you gets expired, I send a new one, if the receiver seems to be active here.

As photography has been my hobby over 45 years, I have now started to design my own cards of my own photos. Some of you may get one.
