I'm from the US, but have now lived in Germany for almost 10 years. It wasn't a big plan of mine to "move abroad" (I came to study 2 years of biology), but here I seem to stay.

Although I miss my family in the US, here in Berlin I have found a lot of happiness. I live with my partner and our dog close to a lake and forests. We like to take Akira (-dog) on long walks or on shorter bike rides through nature as often as possible. Seeing her enjoy a stormy wind or gentle sunshine, a good sniff or a jump in the lake reminds me to also see, smell, and feel what's around me.
When there's less time to venture into nature, dog parks and lots of neighbor dogs are perks of a big city!

We're also lucky to have our own little terrace garden and a bigger shared garden. Between our cactus collection inside and the garden outside, I spend a lot of time with plants :) and Akira spends a lot of time watching squirrels, birds, bees and bats.

Writing, making, and receiving postcards really brightens my day! A postcard from you is a window into someone else's day in another part of the world and no matter what happened in my own day/world, finding a post card in my mailbox makes me feel a part of something. Thank you for that :)
