Dear Postcrossers,

I am Lizzie, a phd student from Beijing, China. I'm in my fourth year and not sure if I could survive my phd but I decide to hang on.

September is my favorite month of the year because it's the most beautiful and most comfortable time of the year in Beijing. Blue skies, crisp air, autumn leaves and roasted chestnuts! And it's my BIRTH MONTH ! On Sept 12th, it will be my 25th birthday! 😁 It would be great if you can wish me Happy Birthday. I would be happy for the entire month, and perhaps all through the end of the year!

I'm quite fond of reading, especially novels. My mid year favorites are：
√ Childhood's End (Arthur C. Clarke)
√ Never Let Me Go (Kazuo Ishiguro)
√ Destiny Disrupted: A History of the World through Islamic Eyes (Tamim Ansary). I strongly recommend you this book if you're a non-Muslim and know little about the Islamic world (and perhaps a bit prejudiced against them because of the extremist groups).

Every nation has its own narrative of world history. It's really interesting to look at the history from the Islamic eyes or the Western eyes. I've also been listening to a story-telling podcast featuring WWⅡ. The program is adapted from Ken Follett's novel Winter of the World. It's fascinating!

What's your latest reading and how do you like it?

We have a Tibetan Spaniel, called 'Dongdong'(东东). He's very adorable and highly affectionate! He now lives with my parents in another city. Are you a dog person or a cat person?
