About Penelope...
Firstly, thank you in advance for choosing a card for me.
You can be assured that your postcard will be displayed on my kitchen wall for a few months. When one wall is full I start on the next and when all are covered the first wall is emptied, the cards filed and then the next batch of cards come on the wall.
That way I can see the world whilst eating breakfast :-)
All cards are scanned and uploaded to my album before they reach "the walls" but at the moment I have a bit of a scanning backlog to catch up on.
Although British I have lived in Germany for very many years. I live not too far from Frankfurt but I love to explore the rest of the country, so no idea where you might get a card from.
I'd like to receive mainly tourist type cards (I want to get the feeling that I need to get out and be right there) but over the years my collections have become more widespread and now I have various themes which I collect but also a whole bunch of others that I like too.
My particular favourites are either illuminated night scenes or old black and white cards showing a town as it was many years ago. If you have old cards and then new cards of the same place I would be interested in getting both from you and would more than gladly send you a card in return.
If you are from Africa or India then please note that I LOVE elephants. Although so massive these animals show a vast range of feelings and I find them fascinating.
I have no objections to Ad-cards if they fit into my collections.
Sometimes I get cards that absolutely don't fit into my collections but are so great that they reach my walls anyway or they even make a start to a new collection. Examples are:
- TV shows (Dr Who/Torchwood, Friends, Fringe and Gilmore Girls)
- oldtimers/hotrods/Trabbis
- PHQ cards from UK
- Flags (Country flags, US state flags, German state flags, Canadian province flags)
- rubber ducks
- How to be British
- b/w photography
- Thunderbirds (my avatar in the forums is Lady Penelope from the Thunderbirds)
*** My newest theme: "Ladders and Steps"....... Funny idea you might think. Well, since the beginning of last year I have been working for a company which makes industrial purpose ladders, steps and platforms and exports them worldwide. It is a very traditional company, family-owned and a bit old fashioned. I would like to pep up my office a bit but at the same time sticking to the company topic. I wonder what you might find for me.
The cards in my favourites are cards that I don't have but would very much like to receive one day.
I also have favourites listed on Flickr: https://www.flickr.com/photos/115816766@N07/favorites
And now a message for those Germans living in the eastern states: Falls ihr noch alte DDR Postkarten habt, die ihr nicht wollt. Her damit. :-) Die DDR Zeit fasziniert mich sehr und dafür habe ich einen Extra-Sammelordner.
