About Daria...

Hello Everyone, it's Daria here!

I'm originally from Poland (born in Katowice, studied in Kraków), but for almost a decade now I've been living in London, UK.

I'd say I have three big passions, though they are all strongly connected - these are art (I've actually studied Art History), travelling (I love cities and historic sites, but also appreciate nature and beautiful landscapes) and languages (feel free to write to me in English, Polish, Italian, Spanish, French, Russian and German - I'm not fluent in all of these, but I'll certainly understand you - and hopefully will learn something new).

Here are some ideas of what cards I'd particularly enjoy, though of course every single card will be welcomed!:

▪ typical 'tourist' cards with views of cities, attractions or landscapes

▪ pictures of something typical to your area - traditional dress, food, markets, crafts, festivities, religious rituals...

▪ historic views of the cities - old pictures, paintings, sketches...

▪ different scripts (especially if you are from countries like Armenia, Georgia, Korea, Ethiopia etc. that have their own unique alphabets); pictures of/from old books and manuscripts

▪ old-school cartoons or book illustrations (Moomins, Miffy, Krtek, Paddington Bear, The Little Prince etc,...)

▪ opera, classical music, musical theatre, other traditional performing arts (pictures of interiors or exteriors of opera/theatre houses, performers, costumes, posters,...)

▪ picture maps, flags, national symbols

▪ politics, heads of states, current affairs/recent history, social campaigns, propaganda posters,...

▪ Postcrossers' meetups and other Postcrossing-themed cards

I find it very relaxing to randomly browse the Postcrossing galleries and add cards I find exceptionally beautiful and/or interesting to my 'favourites', so you may find it helpful to take a look over there.

Regarding 'the other side' of the card, I'd really appreciate if you could tell me something interesting about your city, region or country. Or maybe you could teach me a random word in your language or local dialect - especially if it's something that would be difficult to find in a dictionary :).

I look forward to your postcard!
Best wishes,
Daria
