Hi. My name is Kathleen. I am a married housewife with 2 grown daughters. I am retired. I have a degree in elementary education that I never really used. I think learning is a lifetime project. I have 2 cats that keep me company. The cat I am holding in my profile picture was knitted by my daughter. I like to read, mostly history, historical fiction and biography. (I should have majored in History in college.) I also like to read books about books. (For example MY LIFE WITH BOB by Pamela Paul ans BOOKMARKED by Wendy w.Fairey) I love libraries. One of my goals is to visit all the Carnegie libraries in Illinois. I love the architecture of the old libraries. They are cozier than modern libraries. But I suppose any library can be cozy if the people working there are warm and friendly. I like to drink tea, but not coffee. My favorite kind of music is classical, but I also like Broadway show tunes. I love it in the morning when the sun comes in through the kitchen window. Sometimes I like to make handmade postcards. I won't send a handmade one if your profile says you would rather not have one.
I can find lots of postcards of Abraham Lincoln in Springfield as this was his hometown. There is a lot more to Springfield than Lincoln so I like to take pictures of other interesting things in Springfield and turn them into cards. Or sometimes I take pictures objects or landscapes I find interesting.
Any kind of postcard sent to me is fine. I look forward to hearing from many places and people. Please no advertisement cards or religious cards.
If it is not to much trouble could you please print your messages to me. Sometimes it is very difficult to read cursive handwriting.

I sometimes put my address on a card I send out. Don't feel you need to send one back to me.
Also don't ask me to send anything but postcards. Someone asked me to send them a book. I simply can't afford that. Update: August 14, 2022. A few things have changed since I wrote this profile. I had cataract surgery February 2021. I can see fine, but the close up work I did with cross-stitch is hard to do. I have also taken a break from loom knitting. I haven't finished a book in a year. I tend to read magazines. I still love books and libraries and I hope to get back to reading my stack of books that are waiting for me. I have a lot of fabric and I am interested in art quilting. We are always evolving and our interests change as we get older.
Update: November 30, 2023. Still not loom knitting or doing counted cross stitch. Did read a few books this year. Still haven't made any art quilts but have made small things like coasters and mug rugs.
