About Natalie...
Hi, I live in Canberra, the capital city of Australia. It has a population of only 370,000! I came to Australia to further my studies in 1970 from Malaysia and attended university here and then trained as a teacher of English.
I am now enjoying my retirement and doing many of the things I did not have time before to do.
I love animals and my home has pets of all kinds, dogs, cats, rabbits, birds, fish , even turtles and hermit crabs! However, not all at once! Currently I have only one very spoilt cat who does not let me out of her sight and sleeps on my bed every night!
I also love gardening and traveling and I enjoy making my house a comfortable place to come home to.
I believe strongly in recycling and am a great fan of secondhand and charity op shops and fetes where I always manage to find something interesting and precious! I prefer pre loved vintage items to brand new because these older items have a history.
I love chairs and really appreciate their designs.( especially Mid century). I have too many in my house but I never seem to have time to sit down.
Although I dont swim in the the ocean, I find sea creatures fascinating( especially those with tentacles such as the octopus, squid , cuttlefish and jellyfish) and sea shells very beautiful.
Other interests are film, music, theatre , art and dance , and I enjoy reading comics and architecture / design magazines.
I spend a lot of time trying to solve crosswords and love the challenge of the cryptic crosswords.
I am also interested in Science Fiction and am curious about what may be out there in our great universe.
The idea of Time Travel appeals to me very much even though I am not very adventurous!
I have the greatest admiration for surfers. Their perfect balance on their surfboards in the big waves is incredible! I also think the engineers who design bridges are very clever people too!
As a child I had many penpals ( this was a time before the emails, skype etc) and I am looking forward once again to corresponding via pen and postcards.
I am eagerly awaiting your postcard , to read about you and your country etc : )
