About Kammers...

Hello all,

I’m Kammers from Estonia and I wanted to register here for ages before I actually got to that (and so glad I did!)

I love books. I was raised in a home where they were held in great appreciation and being surrounded by lots and lots of bookshelves has always felt so calming. Maybe that’s one of the reasons I ended up working in a bookstore but ironically there’s never time to read.
Did you know that there’s a special word in japanese for buying books that are just piling up unread? It’s tsundoku, and mine is getting ridiculously huge.

The idea of sending or receiving a postcard to or from a random stranger anywhere in the world, is fascinating. I always try to pick a postcard that in my opinion, would fit the reciever best (but it’s kind of difficult to do so when some people have an empty profile or no favourites at all).

My favourites are slightly romantic themes...flowers like ranunculus or peonies, tea, coffee, sweets, BOOKS, more books, fairytales, castles, mythological creatures and fantasy...I love colors! Red, turquoise, pastels...I have two fluffy cats and fishes but owls, squirrels, raccoons, wombats, hedgehogs are adorable too! Not too big fan of religious themes or simply touristy cards though.
Dont get me wrong- I’m glad to receive any card- but it just seems more personal if the sender actually puts some thought into it. Getting a stack of the same ad cards and then sending them to everybody kind of defeats the purpose in my eyes.

I used to be a huge Harry Potter fan (although, once a potterhead, always a potterhead! Proud Hufflepuff! );
Also I’d mention- Lord of the Rings, Hobbit, Outlander (both books and series), Black Books, Skyrim, Harvest Town, Castle, Firefly; Dreamworks/Pixar/Disney movies...Belle and Mulan (and Anastasia) are my favourites but the best animated movie ever is The Croods!
As I’m mostly in the children’s department in the bookstore, then I have to be able to debate about best princesses and foam swords (but...lets be honest here...I’d do it even when I would work in an office somewhere). My intention is to become that slightly bizarre and happy old lady, who wears socks with little cats on them and a pink hat, who discusses the pros and cons of getting a new ear piercing while trying to beat my husband in video games.

Please tell me something about yourself or just name something that brings you joy; or just some random thought that is stuck in your head and has to get out. Where do you find inspiration? I love when the writing on the postcard shows the characteristics and nature of the sender...if they’re bubbly and chatty or more reserved. Just be yourself!
If you could add something in your native language (with the translation please), then it would be fantastic.

I adore the blue cats by Irina Zeniuk and am collecting them.

Christmas cards in December and birthday ones in April are also very welcome:)
