Hello, my name is Joan, and I have been married for 24 years we met and were married in 6 months - I would not recommend it- but it worked for us, and we have a 25 year old son.
I enjoy reading everything- except maybe the sports pages, watching movies from black and white - (I don't think they make movies like they used to sadly,) foreign films and current movies. I love documentaries and anything to do with the justice system and true crime. I enjoy listening to music but I don't really have a favorite you can find Billy Holiday, Pink,to classical and country on my I-Pod. I enjoy museums, learning things about new places, people, experiences, trivia and the world in general.
I have a 8 year old German Shepherd named Atticus -he is my Velcro dog! That is him in my avatar. Thank god he looks mean and scary to some people because he is the biggest WIMP!! LOL
I have lived in Massachusetts my entire life and it is a beautiful place to grow up with the different seasons but I can definitely do without the snow!! I know people make fun of the Boston Accent -which they never get right in movies by the way- but I don't think I really have one unless I am aggravated and start speaking really fast!
I grew up in a very large family of two brothers and five sisters and my grandmother would stay with us in the winters- which was difficult because our house only had 3 bedrooms and one bathroom but we all survived and if you can live through that and not go crazy you can deal with anything I think. I enjoyed all the noise and chaos that brought you learn early in a big family to stand up for yourself- even though someday's I would pray to be an only child.
I think that for the most part we are all looking for the same things in life no matter our color, sexual preferences, politics, or religion and that is to be happy and live life as well as we can, take care of our families and friends, have a career we look forward to doing each day and to be able to do so without hurting the people around us. Not to be too simplistic but honestly it seems the world is getting so hard and we forget to be nice to each other or if you can not be nice than just be tolerant and polite, and and leave people be themselves, if everyone is an adult, and making their own choices, and no one is being hurt, why should it matter who you love, or who you worship, or what your beliefs are. I have never met a new person and the first few thoughts I have / or need to know is: what god do you pray to, who do you date, or are you a democrat or republican, left or right wing etc. etc. I just care if you are a decent human being.
I look forward to receiving your postcard and learning more about you and the place you live. If you are not sure what to write, tell me a secret about yourself no one else knows - like you sleep with a nightlight, or something you are afraid of like --mice, or your favorite food, memory, hobby etc.
