I live in Albany on the south coast of Western Australia, it has pristine beaches, clean air (very windy and wild sometimes), and an interesting history. Indigenous Aborigines have lived here for more than 20,000 years.
They have an incredibly rich culture and looked after this ancient country with great care during that time.
White people from the British Isles (mainly convicts and soldiers), invaded Western Australia in 1826 arriving on the ship 'Amity' and created a colony they called Albany. A replica of this ship can be seen near the city.
Many of our Aboriginal people had their land stolen, also massacres happened around Australia right up to 1926.
The Aboriginal name of of the area is Kinjarling, meaning 'place of rain'.
In winter Humpback whales can be seen on their journey from the Antarctic to warm northern breeding waters.
Australia is the most successful multi-cultural country on earth, my ancestors are from Ireland, Scotland, Denmark and England. So far I have only visited Ireland 🇮🇪, a place I love.
I am happy with any card you choose for me especially if it has a lot of text and beautiful stamps. ❤️
Suggestion: write something about yourself, your country, the place you live, a story, a poem, a prayer, a quote, a dream. This will make your card special to me. ❤️
