Hi, I'm Ilona, I live in the north of the Netherlands, in a 'polder'; this means we live on the bottom of what used to be sea! I really enjoy studying cultures and languages and I'm always very happy to read some words in your language! I love traveling and if it is up to me, I'd travel basically anywhere.

I studied (Clinical and Developmental) Psychology at the universities of Groningen and Valencia (Spain). After that I lived and worked for a while in Barcelona. I still miss Spain and hope to live there again some day.
I did a PhD (on pesticide exposure in children and behavioral development, like ADHD/autism), but didn't finish it, because my heart lies in working with people in a more direct way. That's why I have been working as a psychologist for the last 6 years, with all types of clients and problems (mainly children and adolescents, but also some adults). I'm very happy with my job! I feel I have been so lucky and privileged to have been able to work in a profession that I really love. I am also very grateful for the beautiful conversations I have with clients every day and everything I learn from them.

For me, Postcrossing is a way to explore the world and get to know different countries. I feel I have seen so many beautiful, impressive places because of Postcrossing, for which I am very grateful. I also very much enjoy the process of reading a profile, picking the best possible postcard and writing it. When receiving a nice postcard, it always feels like a surprise for me; it brightens up my day! Therefore, I hope you will take just a moment to read what kind of postcards I like:)

I prefer single view over multiview postcards. I like:
-mountains!
-national parks/woods/lakes/waterfalls/cliffs
-palm trees!
-beach/blue ocean
-anything tropical/exotic/warm (as non existing here)
-map cards (illustrated)
-(evening) views of your city
-anything idyllic

I also very much like the following:
-Matroejkas/baboesjkas (I fancy them a lot!)
-Collages (for example of stamps)
-Inge Löök, old ladies (they brighten up anyone's day!)
-Moomins (=childhood sentiment)
-Yoga for cats/dogs!
-Icons of Countries series
-What do you know about series
-Lali
-Paddington Bear
-Ilustris

I´m not really a fan of ad cards, pictures of domestic animals, multi view, self made or text-only cards :) Thanks for your understanding.

I enjoy reading about your life, like what you did today, what made you happy or smile today, things you feel grateful for, your dreams or important events in your life that you have learned from (and what did you learn, then?) I enjoy nice stamps too:)

I like cards that are handwritten and stamped. I also enjoy washi tape,stickers,etc.
