Hello! My name is Gemma and I am 32 and am from Surrey in the UK. My local town is Woking, the place where the Martians landed in H.G. Well’s book ‘The War of the Worlds’. I have a degree in Landscape Archaeology so I love really old things, be it from human hands or nature over time. I’m currently teaching myself to play the Irish/tin/penny whistle and the ukulele, and my hobbies include crafting (beading, cross stitch and crochet to list just a few!) and orienteering. I have also just started learning Russian on Duolingo!

You can send me any card (anything goes!) but here is a list of things I like. You can interpret them in any way you like. I even like free cards, as long as they have something interesting on them and are not just obvious advertising by a big company.

Things I like-
Maps (can be just a town or a whole country, or even an image of a really old map!)
Castles
Coats of arms/heraldry
Landscapes (mountains, cliffs, lakes, volcanoes, ect)
Historic buildings/monuments/things (Viking long ship, cave art, medieval tomb, old statue, ect)
Pretty patterns (like from tiles and mosaics or anything else)
Cycling (especially the big competitions like the Tour de France and the Giro d'Italia)
Animals (especially the Scottish Highland Cow, rabbits, bats and otters)
Traditional crafts
Beach huts and lighthouses
Tintin and Asterix comics
Science in any form (TV shows [Doctor Who especially], historic discoveries, ect)
The Three Musketeers
Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit (and everything else to do with Middle Earth)
Dragons
Trains (especially the steam/coal powered ones and old advertising posters)

My dream postcards-
Pierrefonds Castle, France
Anything Tintin themed with a Belgian stamp/postmark
Something involving orienteering (if one even exists!)
Disney World/Land (from anywhere in the world), especially related to Mulan and Tigger (my favourites). Also Viking/Norway themed (but not Frozen) from Epcot.

Card contents
You can write anything you want, though if you can’t think of anything I like to know about local history and geography. You can even draw me something if you are feeling particularly arty! I’d rather a rough drawing of a local building than nothing at all. Or even write a saying in your native language/alphabet (preferably with an English translation). If your country has commemorative rubber stamps at tourist attractions (national parks, monuments, train stations, ect) I would love to see one or two (or more!) stamped on my card.

Ideally I’d like the cards not in envelopes so that the stamps and postmarks are on the card itself, though if an envelope is needed don’t let me stop you!
