I'm an european woman, born in Oldenburg and live in Hannover, aged 63.
My mother Rosemarie has died in Novemer 2019. She was born in Stettin (once a German town at river Oder, now called Sczcecin in Poland) in 1931.
My father Walter was born in Ijmuiden (Netherlands) and died 32 years ago.
I like postcrossing: as a child I have collected postcards! Greatest time in my childhood was when my cousin Ottmar, son of my aunt Margot, travelled with the sailing ship "Gorch Fock" around the world.
I had to sort out and read letters and post cards my mother got in the 50ties -70ties , partly written by people I have not seen in my life, because they lived in closed eastern germany at that time and we west germans could not visit them at all.No phones! So writing letters or cards was the only possible way of communication.
The retired east people could travel from one point in history but they were too poor to do it. And it was forbidden to send money / Deutsche Mark. So they all died before I was 15teen, but now I know they have known my face from photos and they agreed that I look the same as my mother in youth. So with the exchanged postcards they get back into life for me now. Sad history.
My favourites: any postcard of your village or town or (local) nature spot or the sky or space. I like to know something about you and/or your life. 2019 travel destinations: Isle of Borkum(NorthSea), a beach at the Baltic Sea, St. Petersburg and Finland(Lappeenranta, Kotka, Helsinki) and Cologne and The Ravenstein, one of the peak of the Bruchhauser Stones in the Sauerland, and Büsum at the North Sea. In 2020 we went to Äkäslompolo in Finland in February before Covid - restrictions, to Steinhuder Meer and to the Baltic sea coast in Germany. That summer our scheduled journey to the Alands + Finland was canceled 3 days before departure because of the high infection rates in Germany plus new restrictions of Finnish border control! So we visited the North: Hiddensee, Zingst, Eiderstedt peninsula. In 2022 Borkum Färöer Fehmarn, in 2023 Sylt, Dorum, Lahnstein, Zugspitze and Poland Kolberg - Gdansk.
I myself love watching stars and moon and Northern Lights and waves.
I also love rivers, the sea, beaches, lighthouses, also clouds, nature, trees, islands, lakes ...
I like going by bicycle and sleeping in a tent at the seaside. I like rowing also! I like cross country skiing.
I like going by public transport (trains,trams,busses).
I like artists like Escher, Vasarely, Paul Klee, van Gogh, Caspar David Friedrich, Hundertwasser, W. Turner, P. Modersohn, ...
I like the Moomins, Anne Look, Marimekko. And Vespa.
I've been to North Cape, Greenland, Iceland, Sweden, Finland, Norway&Lofoten, Ireland, Scotland&The Hebrides, Skye, Mull of Kintyre, England, Wales incl. Snowden, Portugal, Hungary, Poland, CZ, Denmark incl. some Islands, Netherlands, Belgium, France, Luxembourg, Swiss, Hawaii, New Zealand incl. Stewart Island, Malta, Mallorca, Tenerife, Austria, Italy, Russia.
