About Pamela...

I am retired having worked in secretarial/office administration and have 2 children and 4 grand-children who are my pride and joy and I love spending time with them. I live on Guernsey the second largest of the Channel Islands which are part of Great Britain but have own Government, own sterling currency and postage stamps and our own flag which has the red cross of St George and the gold cross of William the Conqueror Duke of Normandy 1066. 50km from Normandy coast of France and 120km from Weymouth, England. Only 63.4 sq.km in size Guernsey has current population of about 63,000. French author Victor Hugo who wrote "Les Miserables", "Toilers of the Sea" and "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" lived in exile on Guernsey for 15 years from 1855. During WW2 1940-1945 Guernsey was under German/Nazi Occupation and Rule and the majority of children were evacuated to UK. On 9 May 2021 we celebrated 76 years of liberation and freedom. Guernsey is famous worldwide for it's brown and white pure bred Guernsey Cows. Guernsey born people are known as "Guernsey Donkeys" in an affectionate way because they are supposed to be stubborn. I would most like postcards with views of your country. No direct swaps or advertising postcards please. I am interested in most things but interested to hear about you and your country. I love animals, the countryside and beaches and holidays if I am able. I look forward to enjoying post crossing as a new hobby.
