March 3, 2013. A message from Oliver's sister Judy, User Name "Andiamo," also in Virginia, USA. I've just acquired a scanner and am uploading cards and messages that Oliver received and sent. It's a joy to look over the greetings and the warm spirit of all the Postcrossers who've written him and me these past months. Thank you for continuing to swap with me! Judy/Andiamo

Oliver's Message:

I'm a long-distance truck driver for Estes out of Richmond, Virginia, the state capital. I live in Powhatan County, a rural area west of Richmond where General Robert E. Lee's Retreat (1865) is located. The county is named for Chief Powhatan, father of the famous Indian princess Pocahantas who saved the life of Captain John Smith of early Jamestown.

I like to read history, drive my vintage Ford Victoria car and pickup truck, and visit relatives who have the same family roots in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

All cards are welcome, but I'm especially interested in:
MILITARY - historical sites, battlegrounds, cemeteries, forts, weapons, soldiers...you get the idea!
HISTORICAL - buildings, parks, preservations, people
TRANSPORTATION - trucks, cars, trains, museums, roads & highways
AGRICULTURAL - farms, buildings, crops, farmers, machinery, animals, old equipment
CULTURE - National costumes, food, dancers, etc.
GARDENS - I can share these with my wife!

I can send you cards from all over the eastern and central U.S.
Happy Postcrossing! Oliver

PS: Since I'm on the road for one to two weeks at a time, I may be delayed in registering your cards. I'm looking forward to finding my mailbox full! Thanks!

12/13/12 A message from Oliver's sister Judy, Username Andiamo
I'm so very sorry to have to share with you my brother Oliver's death on December 3. He was taking down a tree in his yard and fell to his death. I'll be monitoring his account and registering the cards that will continue to come in for a while. He loved collecting cards to share and enjoyed finding treasures in his mailbox when he returned home. He is survived by his wife Lana and son Wendell. Oliver was 68, very active, and enjoyed making friends with everyone he met. He is sorely missed.
